Hello from the cover of Vogue.
As she prepares to release new music for the first time since 2015, Adele is gracing the covers of not one, but two issues of Vogue.
Marking her first interviews in five years, the 33-year-old “Someone Like You” singer fronts the November editions of both British and American Vogue, donning a series of glamorous looks for the duo of fashionable spreads.
In addition to rocking a bright yellow corset dress by Vivienne Westwood on the cover, the star slipped into a series of retro emsembles for the British glossy’s story – from dripping in Helen Yarmak feathers to getting all laced up in black Dolce & Gabbana corsetry.
Edward Enninful, British Vogue’s editor-in-chief, wrote that the looks — which were paired with equally eye-catching retro glam — were meant to be “timeless.”
Adele modeled more modern apparel for the American side of the historic collaboration, including a larger-than life green Valentino Haute Couture dress for the cover shot.
The star opened up about her dramatic slim-down in the accompanying interviews — which wasn’t about dropping pounds, she said, but rather getting fit.
“It became my time,” Adele told American Vogue of her gym sessions. “I realized that when I was working out, I didn’t have any anxiety. It was never about losing weight. I thought, If I can make my body physically strong, and I can feel that and see that, then maybe one day I can make my emotions and my mind physically strong.”
The singer also said she was “disappointed” by women’s “brutal conversations” about her changing physique. “I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually I represented a lot of women. But I’m still the same person,” she shared.
And Adele’s appearance isn’t the only thing that’s changed for her upcoming album, which follows her divorce from Simon Konecki (the father of her 8-year-old son, Angelo) and the start of her relationship with her NBA agent boyfriend, Rich Paul.
“I was drunk as a fart on ’21;’ I really don’t remember much,” she said of her hit-filled 2011 album. “I just remember being really sad. On ’25,’ I was obviously sober as anything, because I was a new mum. That one, I was sort of more in tune with what I thought people might want or not want.”
But as for the upcoming LP? Adele told the fashion bible, “With this one, I made the very conscious decision to be like, for the first time in my life, actually, ‘What do I want?’”
